Mysteriouser and mysteriouser. Norma appears to be no more, with the Ukip Wales website now saying that they have yet to select a candidate for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr.
Hat tip to Anon.
_______________
The mystery deepens over Ukip's candidate for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr in May's general election.
Norma has managed to live for half a century or more without leaving a single trace on the internet, apart from Ukip Wales's website. No matter how obscure you are, your name is almost certainly floating around somewhere in the ether on websites such as 192.com. But not Norma's.
Now the Ukip Wales website has put a face to this very unusual name.
The Blogger software is not very good at displaying images, so if you can stomach taking a closer look, this is the place to go.
John Atkinson and Gethin James will never win a beauty contest, let alone an election, but Norma looks like a computer-generated character from an Xbox game. Or possibly Ukip's purple answer to Shrek's Princess Fiona.
Could Norma in fact be Britain's first ever virtual election candidate?

Mae 'na ddau enw yn troi lan ar y We gyda'r cyfenw Woodwood sydd yn ymwneud a gwleidyddiaeth ym Mhrydain:
Tony Woodwood (BNP)
Roy Woodwood (UKIP)
Comments about her appearance are a bit below the belt - how she looks has nothing to do with her ability to stand as an MP - mentioning other male ogres doesn't quite excuse it.
Her otherwise complete lack of a biography on the other hand is much more concerning. As you say, almost no-one can escape some sort of web interest. Perhaps it's a "nom de guerre", to avoid exposing her family to ridicule. Or she's a deep-cover CIA operative. Or perhaps UKIP can't find a suitable person to stand for them in this country, and she's been brought in from Poland? They do like to tantalise!
Hmmmmmmmmm
So I can now assume that all Plaid supporters are future Miss World possibles.
That posting has just cost you one supporter Cneifiwr.
Totally uncalled for.
Well, she'll need to declare she is over 18 and a UK citizen to become a candidate. However, the English law says that a name you are known by, and thanks to this blog she is very well known by it, may be used rather than her birth certificate one. [provided there is no illegal reason such as deliberate deception for criminal purposes. Who would be the election returning officer to sort it out?
One has to ask: is she real or a construct just for the ballot paper?
I find it amazing that there is absolutely nothing about her anywhere.
UKIP nationally doesn' t even seem to have a Norma listed, let alone one with a surname - surely you can't just walk into an election with mo political background at all?
True, you can call yourself anything you like as long as it is not for deception ...
Interesting, Redhead, that you say anybody can call themselves what they like as long as it is not for deception. Someone certainly springs to mind there.
In case you find this surprising, here is an explanation:
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales/relationships_w/relationships_birth_certificates_and_changing_your_name_e/changing_your_name.htm
So, you can call yourself Princess Camilla today by just deciding to do so with no need for deed polls, forms, etc, but if you then try to persuade someone you are of royal lineage to con them out of money (or a vote?) that isn't allowed.
Hmmmm ....
Seems like Cneifiwr has a problem with women, is that why you are picking on Norma?
Right wing extremists who can show no history. Who is her election agent?
It may interest you to know that she has disappeared from their website.
Thanks for the update, Cneifiwr!
Anybody care to volunteer to be UKIP's candidate in Carmarthen East? The wackier the better, please; someone to raise a smile in Newcastle Emlyn and Ammanford.
Shouldn't be too hard: just answer that it is the fault of Immigration and/or EU to all of their questions at selection interview.

diddorol - ond braidd yn anffodus am eich sylwadau sarhaus am gwedd y fenyw - dy chi ddim yn rhoi sylw fel hyn i ddynion salw, tew neu moel.
Diolch Gaynor - "annhebyg iawn y byddai Atkinson a James yn ennill mewn cystadleuaeth brydferthwch heb sôn am etholiad" yn ôl y blogiad.
Pwynt y darn oedd bod llun Norma'n edrych yn ffug - fel cymeriad mewn gêm Xbox. Mae'r enw'n amheus hefyd.
