A gift that goes on giving?

New questions are being raised in Carmarthenshire's corridors of power about the chief executive's infamous libel indemnity.

Since the case is now heading for the Appeal Court in December, does the indemnity, branded as unlawful by the Appointed Auditor, also extend to the Appeal, or will a new (unlawful) indemnity be required?

Let's hope the council's lawyers have laid in extra supplies of midnight oil.

As this indemnity for Mark James to counter sue a blogger has now been determined unlawful, he should now be paying these monies back to the taxpayer!!! Let's hope he does.

Don't get your hopes up. The council is disputing the auditor's findings for all it's worth. More legal bills in the post.

How much is all this costing?

It would seem unwise for the local authority to extend the same indemnity this time. "We'll have to do something unlawful now because we did something else unlawful earlier..." is not exactly the most robust of legal positions...
