Praying for debt relief

For those who have been following the Towy Community Church story, today's Western Mail carries a report looking at the evangelical group's plans in general and for a debt counselling service in particular         (here).

More to come on this later in the week.

It is plainly and simply wrong that this organisation is getting the level of public money it is getting from both CCC and Big.
Why should public money be given to a bigotted evangelical Christian set up? It gives a bad name to genuine people of faith who do a decent job of helping people day in day out. Plus it is a nice little earner for Mark and Nicola Bennett.

In light of the Awema scandal one would expect their governance and set up to be looked at very carefully.
However since CCC are under the spotlight from WEFO re one of their grant pots - perhaps they close their eyes?

As someone who has been involved in obtaining quite large sums of money through application to national funding bodies, I can only hope (and pray?) that the administrators and consultants that very closely followed, monitored and required evidence of need for where the money was going to be spent, will be following this multi-faceted project with the same eagle eyed, nit-picking energy. And quite rightly so. Most projects are reasonably straight forward in their aims, ambition and projected activities - this one sounds like an absolute nightmare labyrinth through which to 'lose' money. As others have pointed out these resources should be going to the experienced and qualified practitioners already providing such services.

@ anon 09:12 - Is it CCC or Towy Church who are under the WEFO spotlight?

I believe the reference to WEFO may concern CCC and the COASTAL project. Details currently sparse.
