The stretch from the narrow bridge to Emlyn Square is already blighted by delivery lorries and illegal parking, sometimes bringing movement to a full stop.

As if designed to demonstrate the disjointed nature of local government (national is no better by the way), Carmarthenshire CC now intends to "calm" the traffic going along this very stretch of road using a speed bump and road narrowing (ie pavement widening) in several places. Calming I believe means slowing and slowing can lead to bottle necking. Whatever traffic problems are endured currently, they will be as nothing compare to what the Council are planning for us.

Will this aspect of the application be re-assessed in the light of these road plans? I'm sure it will be, just as I'm convinced that fishes live in trees and eat pencils....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-3725847710013454442014-08-21T22:38:48.277+01:002014-08-21T22:38:48.277+01:00What funny handshakes? What funny handshakes?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-20029670254912390222014-08-21T12:32:32.311+01:002014-08-21T12:32:32.311+01:00We had a similar situation where we live. The council owned a patch of land which meant if people could cross it to the supermarket the supermarket could say it was "in the town centre" and not outside it, because the alternative route was very, very much longer.

The supermarket paid our council a whacking £2 million for the right of way "in perpetuity".

We also had S106s but none of them ever came to anything at all - including affordable housing on the supermarket site which the (very, very, very big) supermarket said it couldn't afford to build so they were struck out.Redheadnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-63893023194244606792014-08-21T07:44:09.905+01:002014-08-21T07:44:09.905+01:00Thank you Cneifiwr for an enlightening update on t...Thank you Cneifiwr for an enlightening update on this controversial scheme. Yet another 'eccentric' planning application brought forward to the lazy, hazy days of August. The prices in other food retailers and the recent demise of the Spar store will benefit the Aldi development but as you note there will most likely be a few more twists and turns to the Cawdor site 'saga'. A new series in the Autumn no doubt...m1booksnoreply@blogger.com
