PHG is an excellent orator, but some of the things he says about linguistic purity are plain silly.

He suggested he'd rather there be no Welsh than colloquial Welsh. Every living language has a colloquial register which doesn't follow the rules of the literary standard. PHG must understand that the same is the case for Welsh if it still has a pulse.

I also agree that alienating non-Plaid supporters is not a clever idea. Cymdeithas yr Iaith needs embrace Labourites and Tories, not give them the cold shoulder.Emlyn Uwch Cychhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03384157218244458970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-56284584135583670882013-01-21T18:20:16.307+00:002013-01-21T18:20:16.307+00:00@13:04 I'm a different person to the above but...@13:04 I'm a different person to the above but felt your points make some sense.
1) Ammanford planning application prechristmas?
2) welsh education in Carmarthenshire is better than the English education
3) administering internally is a problem, I think your right about that. Quite obviously by the way the stage was hijacked by Peter huws Griffiths. The language is not an election tool for plaid Cymru, and I for one think that the language issue is or that society has to sort out, short of putting an English not around the necks of people speaking English in public places, what can the county council do? This is 70's politics all over again, but only because plaid are forcing it to be. His spiel on 'what standard of language are we saving' was unhelpful! I would far rather hear a group of children/teens/adults etc use term like 'gyd o','Tin gwybod Mr Jones' etc than to hear them turn to English

His rallying call to Plaid Supporters to work hard to take power in 2017 was also out of place and I felt that it was a two fingered salute to the Labour Town councillor who spoke first - btw Jon Edwards was most gracious towards the mayor

Before I get slated for this post may I point out that I am long standing member of Plaid Cymru and have walked the streets of Carms East with Adam, Rhodri and Jon

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
