The Rev Dole`s father was minister at Soar Chapel, which Prof Clement attended in his younger days.
On Cllr`s Caiach`s valid observation regarding future flood risk, why does the main police station in Llanelli (near the town centre) cite `flood risk` as a reason to move out of town to Dafen (where town crime can be `out of sight, out of mind`) whereas this ARCH scheme at Morfa (the name suggests it all - morfa= saltmarsh) is being encouraged. I wish that CCC et al would instead address the dying town centre, which was part-caused by the out-of-town developments at Parcs Trostre & Pemberton.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-91764447178435363762016-06-15T23:10:45.162+01:002016-06-15T23:10:45.162+01:00Lets hope the attention to detail extends beyond t...Lets hope the attention to detail extends beyond the website - a simple 10 second look revealed this at the base of the page:

Copyright © 2016 SITE_NAME
All rights reserved.

Apparently, 'We should view ARCH as the wave on which we can all ride to help us achieve success - faster, and together'

I'm looking for success in my astronaut program. The question as to finance was ignored so probably is a "yes" if the whole thing gets off the ground.
I agree that as projects go this is yet another thing we don't need in Llanelli that probably is not financially viable.
Yes, Hywel Dda is a hospital group under considerable strain and in some areas failing to give good quality health care due to funding, staffing and managerial issues. Setting up private alternatives in South Llanelli is bizarre and a gross misuse of public money. As much of the general area in South Llanelli is at risk from from flooding, subsidence and eventually possibly being abandoned to the sea,not a great site. The sea is currently being kept out by the tide lock system, closing the mouths of our rivers as the tide comes in but National Resources Wales has made no commitment to "going dutch" and pumping the rivers out over the flood defenses when the sea level rises enough to produce much more frequent back flooding from the rivers shut in by the tide. Would I spend millions on a project unlikely to succeed financially and when it, in in a few decades it may be on an island [I'm sure they will put it on a platform several metres high to prevent the site flooding but they always forget to raise the access roads]. I'm told a lot of money has already been spent on the PR for this. No wonder West Wales is so poor when we have leaders so easily charmed by these fantasy projects to bail out private companies, and worse, sometimes actually building them.
I wonder how many grants and loans these sharks will devour before selling it on like BHS?Councillor Sian Caiachnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-46935024078665332782016-06-12T20:21:56.535+01:002016-06-12T20:21:56.535+01:00I know one thing you left out, Hywel Dda Universit...I know one thing you left out, Hywel Dda University Health Board will not put penny one into anything that is not directly related to primary health care (ie a health centre); it will not be placing a red cent into Meryl's hotel/conference centre/sheltered accommodation/R&D centre of excellence.
It looks to me that a pile of public dough will be needed to build the great white elephant. It is just so, so depressing.

On a (desperately!) lighter note, therefore, your "bullshit bingo" reference reminded me that according to a former council employee who worked in the CEO's department when MJ first graced Carmarthenshire with his illustrious presence, he used to mention his previous astounding achievments in Boston so often that staff in meetings used to play "Boston Bingo" to see who could get the highest score.Annabellenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-85059598001628331622016-06-12T10:19:22.566+01:002016-06-12T10:19:22.566+01:00Thanks for the LDP reference Anon. Anyone who is unable to see through the waffle and spin should refer to CCC’s ‘A strategic regeneration plan for Carmarthenshire 2015-2030 – Transformations’ published in February, it says:

“To the rear of Delta Lakes, facing the salt-water lake, are envisaged two plots to accommodate interest from the healthcare sectors. This has linkages with recent developments underway on adjacent developments. This part of the park is primed for the forecasted growth in the private healthcare industry and has sympathetic landscape, movement and ecology features appropriate for the sector.”

This should not sit well with the Plaid administration especially in the light of the party’s manifesto which says:

“Healthcare No Privatisation
The NHS was created to preserve the health of the people. The NHS should not be subject to the principles of a free market. There is no place for profiteering in our health service.
Plaid Cymru rejects the marketisation and privatization of the NHS and will oppose any moves in that direction from governments in Westminster and Wales, particularly if it affects the funding of the NHS in Wales.
We strongly oppose the inclusion of the NHS within the EU-US free trade deal, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).”

With CCC drastically cutting to the education budget over the coming years, are we soon going to see Meryl doing similar secret deals with the private education sector?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-118857435900510280.post-39259387471463865342016-06-12T07:55:29.411+01:002016-06-12T07:55:29.411+01:00nice to see you back on form. the propped developm...nice to see you back on form. the propped development will go down like a bucket of cold spew in Llanelli. what people want there is a decent and safe town centre !!
